I have been interested in meditation and attended other meditation classes in the past. In September 2019, my wife and I signed up for the 8.5D Health & Happiness Retreat and it was awesome! I have not felt such strong energy level before and for the first time, I could feel energy flowing within me when we practised the “Meditation of Purity”. Amazingly by Day 3 of the class, I realized that I was not having the pain in my left knee which has persisted for the past few months due to a sports injury. Standing on one leg to put on my pants was no longer a painful process and the tennis elbow pain I recently experienced was also much reduced. I felt so relieved now that I need not worry about having to give up my favourite badminton game anymore!
I find Bodhi Meditation quite different from the other meditation experiences I had as there were so many surprises in store for me! The Dharma lessons which I was not expecting as part of the program are really inspiring. From Master JinBodhi’s teachings about “The Power of Compassion” and “The Impact of Merit on Fate”, I learnt that there is so much more to compassion than what I thought I understood. I also learnt that we can transform our fate by doing good and accumulating merits which can be passed down to our future generations. To me, these are gems which can improve our lives and change our destiny. My wife’s biggest takeaway from this class was the realisation that our constant search for health and happiness should start nowhere else but within ourselves and that negative thoughts and emotions can affect our health over time. Often in her thoughts, she used to judge and be critical of others. She is now more conscious of this negativity and feels calmer and happier.
Chanting was the final surprise for me as I was not expecting that. I did not feel anything when I started chanting for my dad but after few minutes, all the emotions that I had held back for so many years started flowing through. My dad was a strict fatherly figure who kept mostly to himself. Although he had passed on 5 years ago, I have never been able to forgive him over some unpleasant incidents. I am really glad that I was able to repent with sincere chanting and let go of all the pent up negative emotions to find peace with my dad. When I think of him now, I see his good and how he had worked and sacrificed for the family. Thank you Master for showing us new roads to our life journey!
