Singapore Bodhi Meditation Centre
I attended the Bodhi Meditation Chanting Class in August 2018. In one of Grandmaster JinBodhi’s teachings, we were taught the importance of lighting lamps and chanting for our departed loved ones, including aborted babies, during the lunar month of July. This is to help them seek liberation and go to a better place. I was reminded of an abortion I had 20 years ago. During my pregnancy, complications developed and the doctor recommended that I go for an abortion. Since I was not acquainted with Buddhism back then, I made the hasty decision to end a young life and did not think much of it after that. However, this Chanting Class evoked my guilt and sorrow for the unborn child and I deeply regretted my hasty decision. Hence, I immediately lit a lamp for the unborn child and sincerely prayed to Buddha for blessings to rid him of any fear and resentment. On the 6th day of class when we were guided to chant for our children, a scene flashed before me. I saw a child carrying a school bag and heading to school; it seemed to indicate that my unborn child has been reincarnated into a good family. This brought great relief to me, and I firmly believe my unborn child has received Buddha’s blessings and a bright and good future await my child!
