I participated in the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat in February 2019. Through the practise of Meditation of Greater Illumination, I felt relaxed and at ease. Master JinBodhi’s Dharma teachings has taught me to integrate compassion in to my life and to be magnanimous.
Recently, my daughter loves to eat glutinous rice balls. On the 6th day of the retreat, upon reaching home, she said that she wanted to make glutinous rice balls together. I promised her with the condition that she must first complete her homework. After a while, she told me happily that she has completed her homework. Upon checking, I noticed that her homework was incomplete. She then threw a tantrum and refused to acknowledge that. At that time, I was able to calmly explain to her that it is her responsibility to do her homework and encouraged her to complete them. When I checked her homework again, I noticed that she made a lot of mistakes and her work was sloppy. If this had happened in the past, I would be furious and would reprimand her harshly. Instead, I was able to guide her patiently to correct her mistakes and praised her for doing a great job! Her face glowed with a beaming smile and our family had a joyful glutinous rice ball making session.
I am grateful to Master JinBodhi. Meditation allows me to be tolerant, calm and magnanimous. I will practise what I have learnt in my daily life.
