Freedom from severe headaches, letting go of negativity!

I was diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) in year 2014, a condition characterised by high pressure around the brain. The daily medication of 6 tablets could not reduce the pressure effectively. Hence, I continued to suffer from severe headaches with a pain scale of 10/10 about 2 to 3 times per week.

I often needed painkillers and even had to take a stronger type called Tramadol to suppress the pain. I also began to experience momentary blindness in both eyes occasionally. The doctor could only monitor my condition periodically as a higher medicine dosage or surgery was not recommended due to my young age.

Fortunately, my mum encouraged me to attend the Bodhi Meditation 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat in September 2017. Actually, the initial intention was not to alleviate my IIH. During that time, my relationship with my college lecturers turned sour over some disagreement about my final year studies. I felt that they had wronged me and brooded over the misunderstanding. Before long, my school results were affected as my overall GPA grade dropped drastically from 3.8 to 2.7 (out of 4). My mum hoped that I could accept the fact that I was no longer the top student and to be happier.

Shortly after the retreat, I noticed that my headaches only occur occasionally. I went for my cerebrospinal fluid pressure check and was told that it had fallen to within the normal range! Hence, the doctor reduced my medication to just 1 tablet per day. Through Master JinBodhi’s teachings, I have become more compassionate as I have let go of the negative feelings towards my lecturers. Upon graduation, I scored “A” grade for my internship module and my overall GPA grade had improved from 2.7 to 3.1!

I continued my meditation practice and attended the 8.5-Day Retreat again in March 2018. From then onwards, I no longer had severe headaches and momentary blindness! The doctor had since stopped all my medications. With my positive outlook and confidence, I look forward to a new chapter in my life. I am really grateful to Master JinBodhi for all the positive changes in me!
