I am freed from 26 years of back pain in the 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat!

I had been suffering from back pain over the past 26 years. It started immediately after the birth of my first child and deteriorated after my second childbirth. The back pain was so severe that it prevented me from standing for more than 30 minutes, doing any form of exercise or lying on my back to sleep.

The back pain was so severe that it prevented me from standing for more than 30 minutes, doing any form of exercise or lying on my back to sleep. Hence, I could only sleep on my sides and I began to feel numbness on both arms in the recent 7 years. The quality of my night rest was greatly affected; I was always moody.

In May 2018, I participated in the Bodhi Meditation 8.5-Day Health & Happiness Retreat with my sister and a close friend. I was initially worried that I could not stand throughout the meditation practices. However, I endured the pain during practice and managed to stand for more than an hour. This gave me huge confidence and I was motivated to continue. My determination and meditation efforts paid off when I realised that I could sleep on my back on the 3rd night after the class! Since then, I have been sleeping well on my back and the numbness on my arms has also disappeared gradually. My friend also congratulated me for being able to smile so radiantly now!

I was greeted with another surprise when I returned home on Day 4 of the class. When I saw my husband and son speaking calmly with each other, I was overjoyed! Ever since my son had reached his teenage years, he and my husband had been quarreling instead of communicating with each other, sometimes to the verge of fighting. I felt guilty that the tension between them and their foul temperament might have been a result of my negative emotions due to my back pain. For the whole duration of the retreat, there was no more quarreling at home and we could chat harmoniously. I am really thankful to Master JinBodhi for his meditation methods and dharma teaching.
